Abra Amwake

Abra Amwake was a 4-time All-Conference volleyball player while competing for Central High School in Phoenix, Arizona, and was selected to the 2001 All-Arizona team. While competing at Scottsdale Community College, her team took 2nd in the national tournament and she led the nation in digs-per-game with 6.8. Moving on to Holy Names University in the Bay area, her team finished conference runner-up in both 2004 and 2005. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2006 with a BA in History, and twice was selected Holy Name's female scholar athlete of the year. Continuing her post-graduate education at Arizona State, Amwake earned a MA in secondary education, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2009. Amwake was the head coach at McClintlock High School for three seasons, and was named Coach-of-the-Year her second season. Between 2004-2006 Amwake coached club girls 12's and 15's at Norcal VBC and was the head 16-1 coach at Arizona Sky VBC during the 2007-2009 seasons. Amwake is currently an assistant women's coach at San Diego CC and plays regularly in beach tournaments, aspiring to play on the AVP.
