Tammy Leibl is one of the most decorated female athletes in the history of USA volleyball. While at Arizona State University she was named All-America and All-Pac 10 Conference in both her junior and senior years. She hit .346 her senior year with 489 kills. Best known for her offensive skills as a middle/outside, Leibl finished her senior year in the Top 20 nationally in digs per game. She was a member of Team USA for the 1985 World University Games. Leibl was selected the Pac-10 Female Athlete of the Decade and was inducted into the Arizona State Hall of Fame in 1996. Following her outstanding career at ASU, Leibl played for the USA Women's National Team for 9 years. She competed in the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Olympic Games, earning a Bronze Medal in Barcelona in '92. Team USA also won the Gold Medal at the 1995 World Grand Prix.She was the first USA woman to play in 400 international matches. Elected as USA team captain from 1993-1996, she also earned All-Tournament Team honors at the 1992 Hong Kong Cup, 1994 Canada Cup and BCV Volley Cup. Leibl was elected the 1993 USOC Female Volleyball Athlete of the Year. In 1996 Leibl was named League MVP of the National Volleyball Association and on the beach earned AVP Rookie of the Year honors in 2004. After rearing two young sons, Tyler and Noah, Leibl has entered the club coaching ranks. This is her second season with the Wave VBC.
